The Rise of Esther

This is part of the Esther study series we are doing an in depth study of the book of Esther using the study book from The Daily Grace Co titled Esther Seeing God when He is Silent.

In our third Bible study meeting we covered the rise of Esther and learned a little about her background, the process she went through in being selected by the king, and Gods favor.

Esther was a Jew, but when she went into the “competition” for lack of better words to be selected as the new Queen her cousin Mordecai who took care of her when she became an orphan told her to keep her lineage to herself. So she kept it a secret as she went through the beautification process.

Yes… beautification process. Esther went through several months of beauty treatments to make sure she fit the mold of royalty before going to the king. After the treatments Esther had her one night with the king to impress him and prove her worth, yes it’s as bad as it sounds. The night comes and goes and the king decides she is who he wants to be his new queen. We know that even though the king chose her, God was the one in control and had chosen her long before that night.

Whether we know or see it God always has his hand on our lives and orders our steps and leads us in the way we are meant to go. God had a bigger purpose for Esther than simply being queen.

The major takeaway we got from this part of the study was that it doesn’t matter what your background is or your history, or if you feel worthy or not, if God calls you, he will equip you for whatever he is bringing you to. God put his favor upon Esther from the very beginning and that very same favor may very well rest upon you.

I’m reminded of a quote I’m not sure where I heard it or read it (not sure it’s actually in scripture but it could be) “God doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies the called” that’s powerful.
